AUDIO VISUAL TECHNICIAN


Summary/Objective

The Audio-Visual Technician assists with the setup and operation of audiovisual equipment for classes, conferences, and special events at ATU Training and Education Center t/a The Tommy Douglas Conference Center (TDCC). The Technician also provides support to guests, instructors and banquet staff, as needed

 

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

Assisting with classroom and event support

Recording of classes and events

Assisting faculty with in-classroom AV needs

Troubleshooting AV equipment and replacing defective or malfunctioning parts

Video production projects, including interviews and instructional videos

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full-time and Part-time 20 - 40 hours

 

Salary Range

$19.58 - $23.58/hour

 

Required Education and Experience

A high school diploma or its equivalent is required

Excellent customer service, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills

Knowledge of video recording techniques, and a basicunderstanding of signal flow for both audio and video

Familiarity with Final Cut Pro X

Working knowledge of Mac and PC computers

Knowledge of AV Projectors

Videoconferencing a plus

Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision

 

Preferred Education and Experience

Previous AV experience or a background in audio technology or visual media

Familiarity with Mac and PC computers, projection systems, PA systems, video cameras, digital audio recorders, as well as basic and advanced control systems

 

 

Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members will use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components, and may be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Working times will include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by TDCC Management.
